Tips for treating cracked feet
1. Soaking in warm water
Soaking your feet in warm water for 10-15 minutes helps soften dry, flaky skin. You can add sea salt or natural oils such as lavender or tea tree oil to soothe and sterilize the skin.
It is best to avoid very hot water as it can increase dryness of the skin.
2. Regular exfoliation
Use a pumice stone or foot file after soaking to remove layers of dead skin. Do this gently to avoid irritation or wounds.
You can also use natural exfoliants such as a mixture of sugar and honey or sugar and olive oil to exfoliate your feet regularly (once or twice a week).
3. Deep moisturizing
After exfoliating your feet, apply a rich moisturizing cream, shea butter, or coconut oil to moisturize the skin. Choose creams that contain ingredients such as urea, lactic acid, or lanolin, as they are effective in deeply moisturizing and soothing the skin.
It is best to use a moisturizing cream daily after showering and at bedtime to maintain hydration.
4. Wear cotton socks while sleeping
After applying moisturizer or oils to your feet, wear soft cotton socks. This step helps maintain moisture and prevents the skin from drying out during the night, making the skin softer in the morning.
5. Use natural oils
Coconut oil, olive oil, and almond oil are natural oils that help moisturize and nourish the skin deeply. You can massage your feet with these oils before bed and leave them overnight for better results.
6. Wear appropriate shoes
Constantly wearing inappropriate or open shoes can contribute to dry and rough feet. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes made of natural materials such as leather, and avoid tight shoes or shoes that do not provide adequate support for the feet.
Also, avoid wearing open shoes in dusty or dirty places to keep your feet clean and moisturized.
