The most important types of yoga
Yoga is a holistic practice that combines physical exercise, breathing, meditation, and relaxation. There are many types of yoga, and each type focuses on a different aspect of the practice. Here are some of the main types:
Hatha Yoga:
Hatha yoga is the foundation of most other types of yoga. It focuses on physical postures (asanas) and breathing techniques (pranayama) to calm the mind and improve flexibility and strength of the body.
Vinyasa Yoga:
Vinyasa is based on smooth transitions between poses with an emphasis on breathing. Sometimes called “flow yoga,” it is dynamic and energetic.
Ashtanga Yoga:
An intense, structured type of yoga that follows a specific sequence of poses with coordinated breathing. It requires commitment and discipline.
Bikram Yoga:
Practiced in a heated room (around 40 degrees Celsius) and consists of 26 fixed poses and coordinated breathing. Also known as “hot yoga.”
