Ways to Increase Lactation During Breastfeeding

Increasing milk production during breastfeeding depends on several factors, including good nutrition, regular breastfeeding, and taking care of general health. Here are some ways that may help improve and increase milk production:

Frequent breastfeeding:
– Breastfeeding the baby frequently stimulates the body to produce more milk. The greater the demand for milk, the more the body will supply it.
– Making sure to breastfeed from both breasts in each session may help increase milk flow.

Ensure the correct breastfeeding position: Make sure the baby is in the correct position and places his mouth completely around the nipple. Incorrect positioning may lead to poor emptying of the breast, which negatively affects milk production.
Drink enough fluids:

– Drinking water regularly helps maintain the hydration needed to produce milk. Make sure to drink enough water daily (about 8-10 cups or more).
– You can also drink warm drinks such as natural herbs that help increase milk production such as fenugreek and fennel.

Balanced nutrition:
– Make sure to eat foods rich in protein and essential vitamins and minerals, such as whole grains, leafy greens, fresh fruits, and nuts.
– Foods that enhance milk production include oats, lentils, fenugreek, and ginger.
– Using a breast pump:

– If the baby does not breastfeed regularly, a breast pump can be used between sessions to stimulate milk production and increase the amount. Trying to pump milk after each breastfeeding session helps empty the breast and produce more milk.
